About the Luke Society
The Luke Society provides resources and support for international Christian health visionaries passionate about ministering to needs in their own cultures. Our ministry empowers nationals to share the saving grace of the Gospel through preaching, teaching and healing. Read more about who we are and what we do here.

Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown. Luke 8:8.
In our context, the farmers plow their fields and remove all kind of thorns before sowing their precious seed, because the quality of soil matters in harvesting.
As a farmer, since we started the work in Banankoro, Mali, we have been sowing the seed of the Gospel on many people’s heart, but without seeing any conversion.
It seems the seed was always falling on rocky ground or along the path or among thorns instead of good soil.
In August 2016, we recruited a young man named Seydou Mariko from the village as the caretaker of the clinic. He was lost in syncretism, which combines practices of Animism and Islam. We started sowing the seed of the Gospel in his life through our demonstrations and the sharing of God’s Word.
Whenever I had opportunities, I shared the Gospel with him and prayed for him.

Aite, Mali, housing project
Most of you are aware that the majority of our Luke Society ministry directors serve the Lord in locations that are not the most desirable in which to live and work. They willingly do this in obedience to God’s call to reach the underserved, demonstrating the love of Jesus to “the least of these.”
One of the challenges of serving in remote rural areas is finding well-trained medical staff to work alongside the ministry director. But even when these individuals are found, an additional challenge presents itself. In many of these rural locations, housing facilities are in short supply. Even when well-trained workers are identified and wish to join a ministry team, it might be difficult for them to relocate.
This is exactly the challenge that Indielou Dougnon faces with his ministry located in the remote community of Aite, Mali. Indielou has a marvelously dedicated group of staff professionals who serve beside him. But several of these staff members have no choice but to accept housing with families in town who are willing to let them use a corner of their home as an apartment.
