Since the building which housed the Luke Society clinic on the island of Palawan was owned by the government, director Dr. Susie Cayaon was at the mercy of the varying moods of different government officials who periodically threatened eviction. The Luke Society recently constructed new facilities for Susie and her staff to see patients. There are no adequate hospitals in the area and no other medical care for the poor. The Luke Society provides everything from obstetrical services and general consultation to dentistry. Susie's husband, Rev. Ben Cayaon, also teaches tribal pastors who gather at the clinic from great distances for Biblical and medical training.
