About one in every five people on Earth lives in India – a country about one-third the size of the United States. Particularly alarming is that only 2.3 percent of the country is Christian.
Making an impact for Christ in India is a huge undertaking for Prem and Dr. Pushpa Rout. They are based in Odisha, where they reach out in the name of Jesus to many communities and villages around the region.
Dr. Pushpa’s background is in obstetrics while her husband is an evangelist. Together they form a perfect team. Pushpa provides health care while Prem uses his gifts for engaging audiences on healthcare education and evangelism.
Their ministry can be dangerous at times in the Odisha region, never knowing if their message will be received favorably in the villages or whether it will be met with hostility from radical Hindu and communist sects. They lean on God’s protection as they take their Gospel message of health and hope into new communities.
Prem and Dr. Pushpa Rout
Prem and Dr. Pushpa Rout do more than complement each other in marriage; they complement each other in ministry. As a team, they bring spiritual and physical healing to disadvantaged and discriminated groups in rural India. They have the ability to inspire the people in their region to better physical health and spiritual wellness. They represent the light of Jesus in a land where Christians are a severe minority of the population. The Partnership Ministry Team for Odisha is Alex and Sandee De Jong and Marty and Mary Ozinga.
