Segou, Mali

Ministry profile

Most of the villages around Segou, Mali, have no lights, no electricity and no running water. Even more concerning is that they lack the Light of Jesus Christ. Dr. Bourama Sidibe hopes to be a part of a change to the villages that are 100-percent Muslim.

Sidibe joined the Luke Society in 2015. His ministry focuses on community health education, health consultations and church planting. He has an extensive background as a church planter in the region, and has helped to bring life to the Christian church, a minority population.

Health care options are limited in the region. Most must leave their villages and travel significant distances for health care, and many cannot even afford to do that. Sidibe lives in Segou but most of his ministry is targeted in the surrounding rural villages. He hopes to eventually construct a small medical clinic in one of the villages to give the residents easier access to regular health care.

Despite being a Christian, Sidibe is welcomed by the Muslim villages who recognize his skills will be an asset to their communities.

Director profile

Dr. Bourama Sidibe was sparked by the Lord to serve in a Christian medical ministry back in 2002. That flame was refined over the next decade while he received training and cultivated skills in church planting. It has always been his desire to follow his calling and use his medical education to reach underserved groups with health care and the Gospel. He is well-respected among the villages and has gifts and abilities to make connections with community leaders.
