Transitions produce new baton-carriers

Dr. Greg Kuiper gifts a running baton to Dr. Troy Tompkins who is the Luke Society’s new chief medical officer.)

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” ― Hebrews 12:1

SIOUX FALLS, SD ―Luke Society retired chief operating officer Dr. Greg Kuiper spoke to the Luke Society board, staff and Partnership Ministry Teams on Oct. 18 about running the race of a believer at his retirement celebration dinner where he passed a baton to Dr. Troy Tompkins, who recently began his work as chief medical officer. We are also thankful for a correlating board meeting as well as a time of fellowship and training at our PMT conference in Sioux Falls.

As the event put a wrap on Greg’s formal working career, he talked about how we run our race together for the glory of God. We are running side by side. Each of us is encouraging each other to faithfully complete their leg of the race: ministry directors, prayer warriors, board, staff, PMT, donors and so many others who are faithfully serving the Lord.

It summarizes well the many transitions happening in the Luke Society, which are a cause for prayer. Some of the more evident transitions include new board members, Dr. Heather Clouse, Dr. Jon Engbers and Anne Kooiman. New staff members Dr. Troy Tompkins, Danny Fergen and Natalie Rea. During this time of transition we ask for your prayers for unity of spirit, and common vision and patience with each other as we develop new relationships.

We are excited by what we see the Lord doing as batons are passed from one board member to another and from older generations to younger. It is thrilling to see God raise up new staff members and prayer warriors who are willing to carry on the mission. Thank you for running faithfully alongside of us in prayer.
