Luke Society Tekanassar
Tekanassar, Niger
Tekanassar, Niger, is one of the Luke Society’s most remote locations. There’s no easy way in and there’s no easy way out. Yet, in this highly rural setting there is a desperate need for health care.
Enter nurse Annie Mabrouck who is following the Lord’s call to bring health care to her own people.
“The presence of the Luke Society in Tekanasser has greatly improved access to healthcare for the community. Previously, residents had to walk about 15 kilometers to reach a facility, but now they receive care close to home,” Mabrouck said.
Mabrouck runs her clinic out of a small, rented facility which also contains a pharmacy. She is establishing trust within the community along with a reliable network connection for communication.
“The inhabitants have become more educated about health, childcare and when to seek medical help,” Mabrouck said.
She also conducts outreach campaigns to other small villages in central Niger and has her sights set on someday constructing her own clinic to serve the people of Tekanassar.
