ODISHA, INDIA―Many Luke Society ministry directors have devoted their lives to serving the Lord and caring for the people He has placed in their care. Their years of faithful service reflect a deep love for Christ and a steadfast commitment to sharing His love with others.
One such servant is Dr. Pushpa Rout, who has dedicated her life to serving the poorest of the poor in Odisha, India. For more than 25 years, Dr. Rout and her husband, Pastor Prem, have worked in remote villages where families often live together in simple mud huts. Through their ministry, they teach basic healthcare practices, including personal hygiene and the prevention of mosquito-borne illnesses. They also provide literacy education and share the Good News of Jesus Christ with people who have never heard the gospel. Through their faithful and compassionate service, entire villages have come to faith in Christ.
In October, Pushpa was diagnosed with a sinus mass and underwent surgery to remove it. Doctors also discovered a pituitary tumor that will require a more complex surgery soon.
Ask the Lord to grant Pushpa strength, healing, and peace, and to give wisdom and skill to her medical team. Pray that the Routs will feel the Lord’s comforting presence and be sustained by His grace throughout this difficult season.
Please also remember the underserved communities they have faithfully served for so many years. Many families continue to face daily struggles with inadequate food, limited access to clean water, unsafe shelter during storms, and little or no access to healthcare. Pray that these communities will receive the practical help they need and continue to experience the hope and love of Christ through the ministry of Dr. Pushpa and Pastor Prem.
May the words of Scripture encourage us all: “Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” — 2 Corinthians 4:16
