Stop and recognize God at work

Things are happening all around us, yet we need to make ourselves aware to understand them. Think of the sunset over an ocean or mayflies dancing in a bubbling creek. These things happen day after day. Moment after moment they continue to give praise to God and attest to his creative powers. Yet, to understand them we need to stop, look, listen and pay attention. God is working and being praised by His creation as it does His bidding.

In a similar way, we need to pay attention to what God is doing around the world. Take a moment. Really look and listen. Don’t go stomping through with heavy boots, but walk tenderly with bare feet. Take off your shoes and notice how the Holy Spirit continues a global advance.

God is working in people’s lives around the world. Do you hear the mother who is crying out for her son to be healed? Do you hear the desperation of the laborer whose back is in pain yet must use it as his family’s only source of sustenance? Do you see the woman who was in a motorbike accident on the way to pick up fresh produce for her children?

God is triumphing over sickness and disease as people come to Luke Society clinics. People stumble through the clinic doors from sickness or pain. They have a desperate desire for help, for relief. They receive the medical help they so hoped for ― and yet they receive more. They hear the words of eternal life. They encounter caring medical professionals who share with them about Jesus who loves them and gave His life for them.

Let us pause and praise the Lord for the medical and spiritual work happening around the globe. Reflect on the medical professionals who are sacrificing their own comfort so that others can experience healing and hear the Gospel message. Pray that the Holy Spirit continues to advance and move in people’s hearts. “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord” (Psalm 150:6).
